We loved our stay at the Beach Hotel. Even before we checked in the staff were so accomodating to our needs and were so helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The room was bright, clean and had lots of space. As this was our first family holiday with our baby we were a bit nervous about being away from home but we had everything we needed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Can't wait to get back for another break!

Four of us (golfers) stayed for four nights. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The hotel was spotless throughout, the rooms comfortable and the staff so attentive. We really enjoyed sampling the black stuff in the bar. We had to leave early to make our ferry in Dublin and were served breakfast early so we could get on our way. Brilliant service. Many thanks for such an enjoyable stay. Hopefully we will be back soon.

My family had an amazing stay at the Beach Hotel. The staff were excellent. Really made us feel welcome and went above and beyond with any requests I had. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Downings. It is clean, friendly and in a perfect location to surrounding attractions. We ate in both the bar and the restaurant and he food was gorgeous in both. If booking this hotel make sure to book in advance as it books up pretty quick in peak season.

As per our countless visits before, this one was equally as fantastic. We visited on a particularly warm day and our room was warmer than we'd have liked it. It proved no trouble at all for Seana to place an electric fan in the room whilst myself and my husband had drinks in the bar. The fan made all the difference. Its the seemingly small touches like this which guarantees our return and sets the Beach Hotel apart from its rivals. Hospitality has never waivered and it makes us feel so welcome when we are remembered from previous visits. Steaks are still perfect, as are the pints :)

Having stayed here before it was great to be back and experience the friendly atmosphere and warm welcome of the team. We highly recommend this place in case you visit Downings.

Everyone at the Beach Hotel was very welcoming and friendly, Rooms were very clean and everything there that was required. The only downside was there was only a shower cubicle (would have preferred bath/shower option) and nowhere to hang up wet towels so ended up throwing these over the cubicle.

I highly recommend staying in The Beach Hotel. It's a fabulous family friendly place to stay, even without the children,lol. Your always made feel very welcome on arrival and throughout your stay. The owners are one in a million, staff are extremely professional and friendly. Breakfast is gorgeous not to mention the full dinner menu. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

The Beach Hotel is a wonderful, family run venue that oozes warmth and welcome. The staff are so friendly, their aim is most definitely to enable the client to have an enjoyable stay. The decor is modern and comfortable and the food is tasty with generous portions. We have stayed twice and will definitely return. Downings itself is an engaging village nomatter the season with excellent walks and shoreline, pubs and hospitality. I highly recommend a stay with the charming Mairead and Charlie, the very hands on owners and hosts of the Beach Hotel.

Once again an outstanding stay at the Beach Hotel. The food is of the highest quality and plenty full. The staff along with the owners couldn't do enough for us.

Great stay had by all. The Rooms were very large and well equipped, great food both nights in The Bar along with good live entertainment. Very friendly staff especially the Waitresses who really went out of there way to help your stay. Great freshly cooked breckfasts in the morning and good variety to choose from. Cannot wait to go back again next year with the wife.

Had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the beach hotel! Room was very comfortable and quiet with plenty of space. Had 2 windows which let in a great amount of natural light. Breakfast was excellent with a nice selection of juices and fruit with a nice variety of hot food on the menu, all included in the price of the stay! Staff were very friendly and helpful, David (the night portor) in particular was very nice and helped me with a problem I ran into during my time in Downings which I really appreciated. Only slight complaint was that in the room there was a loud buzzing noise which If turned off would also turn off electricity. But over all everything was excellent

Fantastic stay at The Downings Beach Hotel. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night. The staff are brilliant, nothing is too much bother for them, the hotel itself is lovely and comfortable and the food is delicious. An amazing breakfast is available which is not to be missed either. Keep up the good work everyone, you're doing a great job.

This is a fantastic hotel in a great location. The food is great, the rooms are great and the staff are great. However I would not stay again on a friday or saturday night as the noise from the bar is extremely loud. There is no chance of sleeping in the family rooms above the bar before 1am. The Manager did move us for the second night. I will ensure any future stays are weeknights.

We were made feel very welcome by all the staff in the hotel. It came across very strongly that your custom was much appreciated by all connected with the hotel. The food was excellent and value for money. This was our second visit to the hotel and the second was as enjoyable as the first. We certainly will be returning and recommending the hotel to our friends.

We were thrilled with all aspects of our two-night stay in the Beach Hotel. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Everywhere was spotless, lovely breakfast, plenty parking, efficient lift. The bar food was an exceptionally high standard, we ate there both nights. The ambiance was perfect ... warm, welcoming and fun. Staff made a fantastic effort for Halloween night with costumes and scary make-up. We have been recommending the Beach Hotel to all our friends.

fab place to stay

Staff couldn't have been nicer or more attentive to us, and our 12 week old baby. Hotel was clean, modern and the food in the bar was delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

Didn't know what this accommodation would be like but really loved it. Arrived early so our room wasn't quite ready. They offered a larger room for the same rate but we wanted the room with a view. It didn't take long. The bottle of champagne I ordered was there waiting for my wife and I. The room was neat, comfortable and had a wonderful view of the bay. We ate at the hotel restaurant and had a very good meal. It was fun to watch the locals and the bartender was great. It is in a great location to go exploring the coast of Ireland.

Everyone we met or talked to was delightful. The"Lady of the House" was very nice, and hats off the Mary Grace who was so helpful and took such good care of these crazy Americans. The pub she sent us to was great. We missed her, but Cormac, one of the friends we made in the hotel pub dining room showed and introduced us around. Also, to be eating in the hotel pub and be invaded by Darth Vader and 4 henchmen was a hoot!! I understand this was by arrangement with the Lady of the House and it was loads of fun. Overall the staff and ownership of this property was excellent.

My son and I had a wonderful stay at the Beach Hotel in Downings while playing golf in the area. The Beach Hotel and the hotel staff could not have been nicer and we had a wonderful stay. Golf at Rosapenna, Portsalon, and Ballyliffin is not to be missed.

We had a fantastic stay, made perfect by the excellent quality of accommodation, food and service at this lovely hotel. The craic was 90. We have every intention of making it an annual event.

We spent the last weekend in January at the Beach Hotel in the Downings. Great spot for a few days getaway anyway but the deal we purchased and the cleanliness and general and sincere warmth of the place, the Hotel/Bar/Eating area/Bedrooms, and the friendliness of the staff made it probably the best value for money I've had in a number of years. We had a fantastic 2 night b+b stay at The Beach Hotel 29 jan-1feb. We are very familiar with Downings and it was such a treat to stay at The Beach while our holiday home site is closed for winter. Lovely warm friendly atmosphere, amazing food, great breakfast which goes on to 11am. Nothing was a bother to staff and on the whole we felt very at home. Have highly recommended to our friends. We will definitely be back 😊

my stay was a nice one the hotel is very clean and tidy the food was good and the only fault that i found was the starters didnt have garlic mushrooms but they were on the bar menue i asked the waiter could i have them but the chef refused.....i was a little put back as soup is too heavy as starter.....another couple asked for them as well .........apart from that very good would stay at the beach again.....thankyou chris

We enjoyed our stay very much. Everything was clean and comfortable, and staff and management went out of their way to be helpful. Breakfasts were very satisfying but one disappointment was my dinner choice, which was breaded haddock. This consisted of 2 thin fillets, which were obviously straight from the freezer, rather dry, and very unappetising. This was a let-down to what was otherwise a very pleasant stay.

Out stay at the Downings hotel was excellent. The room, the service and the food were great. The only downside was the loud music from the bar /restaurant area until 2am on Sunday morning which kept the family awake. My mum who stayed on a higher floor was not disturbed but our family room was directly above. I would stay in the hotel again but request a different room.

As always, we enjoyed our stay at The Beach Hotel. As it is such a busy time of year service was sometimes slow but we were well accommodated at the same time. We enjoyed the entertainment that was laid on over our 3 night stay. Overall we had a very pleasant relaxing stay. We will certainly be back next year if indeed not before!

We thoroghly enjoyed our stay at the Beach Hotel. We had requested a superior room with a sea view. The room was lovely though we didn't get the sea view. It had a great en suite with walk in shower as well as a bath and the sitting area with settee and chairs was very welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful in the breakfast room and in the bar where we ate in the evenings. The food in both was of a high standard. The hotel and area is very much changed since our 1st visit 50 years ago but the hotel modernisation and facilities is 1st class.

We had a wonderful stay in the Beach Hotel for two nights. First of all Darragh was great in reception. Thank you for the seaview room. Tina who served us breakfast and then cleaned our room was a fantastic. All the staff we were in contact with were great. Everyone was very friendly and nothing was a bother. I cant wait to go back. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff are really friendly and the hotel is very nice. One slight criticism is that it is very difficult to regulate the water temperature in the shower in Room 104. It veered from very cold to almost scalding hot (and cold corresponded to red and hot blue, rather than vice versa, which maybe guests could be alerted to). It was fine for us but a child or elderly person could potentially burn themselves.

This is a lovely hotel.We had a triple suite which was very spacious and well decorated.The heating was just right as sometimes hotel rooms can get very warm.If you needed extra warmth there was an electric heater provided.Bathroom facilities were sparkingiy clean .Breakfast was delicious served by a very pleasant waitress.We will be back.Thank you to everyone.

I stayed there for 1 night only but I loved it. The photos on the website don't do it justice. The room was clean, spacious and warm.. It was also very quiet at night and the breakfast in the morning was delicious.The hotel is just besides the beach and the owners were very helpful. I will definitely stay there again. A tip: Before booking a room, call the hotel directly, they might be able to give you a better price!

OUR Family had a fantastic time Charlie and his staff were so friendly and helpful wee visited 10 years ago and then in October, wee wont leave it so long again. Breakfasts and home made bread were great.Well done everyone at BEECH HOTEL we hope to return soon.Linda and Brian Spalding

Myself and my wife stayed in the Beach Hotel for three nights recently, and I have to say that it is one of the friendliest family hotels we have stayed in. Coupled with the fact that the food was delicious, excellent service and wonderful scenery I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Charlie and Mairead were excellent hosts, and always ensured that everyone was looked after. We hope to return in the future.

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. All management and staff showed a friendly and genuine interest in guests. Restaurant/bar food was excellent and very reasonably priced, with freshly cooked breakfast served to table. Room was large and modern, and beds clean and comfortable.

Great value and lovely friendly atmosphere. Rooms spacious and well equipped. Really enjoyed our stay.

An excellent place to spend a few nights. I strongly recommend it to anyone who is in the area. The staff were outstanding - friendly, helpful and happy to accommodate our early departure time. Unfortunately I probably won't get the chance to visit again for a couple of years but I will definitely be back.

We had a lovely time at the beach hotel. They kindly accommodated our bed requirements and we had a nice quiet room above the breakfast area. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great experience. Would go again!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a very pleasant time as always as we have previously stayed here. Breakfast was 1st class and set us up for the day. Sunday lunch was excellent and good value as was the bar food menu. Service was quite slow for bar food but admittedly it was very busy. Bed in room 114 was a little uncomfortable with springs jutting out. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay as we always do and will return.

Rooms were spacious, restaurant food was delicious and every member of staff we met was exceptional. Our only difficulty was that our room was directly above the bar and outside smoking area. Music filtered upstairs very pleasingly for us, but we had to close the window due to the howls of some girls outside in the wee hours. This was more a nuisance than a problem. Our stay was fantastic - 5 stars for the hotel a massive 10 if that was possible for the cheery, fun, helpful and energetic staff.

Your hotel was recommended on Tripadvisor and it lived up to its recommendation. Minor detail: the lace curtains did detract from the view from our room window - but were probably needed for privacy! I don't understand exactly what "the overall value of this property" refers to so have not attempted to rate that item.

Would highly recommend this lovely hotel. Staff extremely helpful and food of a good standard. Exceptionally clean and rooms are of a very good size.

We had a fantastic time-just what we needed. Everyone could not have done enough for us and the food was excellent. You definetely seem to employ the right people as they were all fantastic. Couldn' t praise The Beach highly enough and we hope to be back soon.

My husband, twelve year old daughter and I stayed at this hotel for two nights during the fourth week in August. It is without doubt the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed in. Furthermore, it was so clean throughout, it almost squeaked! The staff and owners were always on hand to help, and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were also genuinely interested in you, where you were from and so on and they were particularly engaging with our young daughter. A delightful few days which came to an end far too quickly. I will do everything in my power to return there one day and I recommend that visitors to the area choose this hotel for their stay.

paid for early book-in 1200 onwards. arrived at 1340 but room was not ready until 1420.

Very friendly. If staying at weekend best to have a room at the back. Breakfast served until late and very good but missed the Irish potato bread. Soda farrell too thinly sliced..it's soo good! Great value.

Everything was extremely well run and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was plentiful and hot. A perfect combination. I was even offered a new wife but probably that was a case of mistaken identity!

Hotel was very nice. our Room was good but very warm at night. could not sleep. Breakfast on the first morning was a lot nicer then breakfast on the 2nd Morning because the sausages I felt were reheats. we had dinner on the first night which was good value. over all experience was good.

First class hotel. great friendly staff, lovely location . Our meal in the resturant was very good and reasonably priced. great Guinness and a breakfast that would choke a donkey. if your going to donegal stay here you won't be disappointed. i will defiantly be back. highly recommend it.

Overall excellent hotel. The staff sevice with children was friendly and genuine.The only point I would make is that the evening food,both in bar and restaurant was on the bland side.
